ANDY BROWN NAMED HEAD TRAINER ONTARIO'S UNDER 17 TEAM

Team Ontario Director of Operations, Mike Futa is pleased to announce the appointment of Andy Brown as the new head trainer/athletic therapist for Ontario's Under 17 Team.

Andy will be replacing former Team Ontario trainer Andy Playter, who has taken the training position with the Ottawa Senators of the National Hockey League.

Currently the head athletic trainer for the Kingston Frontenacs of the Ontario Hockey League, Andy's qualifications and professional experience are numerous and include a Degree in Kinesiology. Brown has also been a team trainer for the Mississauga Ice Dogs (OHL), Milton Merchants Junior A Hockey Club (OHA) and was the head athletic therapist for the Unversity of Ottawa Sports Medicine Centre/Gee Gees Varsity Athletics Program.

Andy will be working with assistant trainer Phil Voutier and Team Ontario's head coach Marty Williamson and assistant coaches Jason Brooks and Jacques Beaulieu in the coming months to prepare Team Ontario for the 2006 World Under 17 Hockey Challenge in Regina Saskatchewan.

The Ontario Under 17 Program is a component of Hockey Canada's Program of Excellence and is facilitated through the Hockey Development Centre for Ontario on behalf of their 3 Ontario Branches. The program receives financial support from the Ontario Ministry of Tourism and Recreation. In total, more than 1000 players will participate at regional Under 17 identification camps throughout Ontario this spring.
