Boyd to Join Team Ontario’s  Under-17 Coaching Staff

Toronto – Mike Futa, Ontario’s under-17 Director of Operations, is pleased to announce the appointment of James Boyd as the new head coach of Ontario’s Provincial Under-17 Team.  Mr. Boyd replaces Bob McGill, who has stepped down due to his recent head coaching appointment with the Oshawa Generals of the Ontario Hockey League.

"James, who is currently head coach of the Belleville Bulls of the Ontario Hockey League,   will bring a wealth of international experience, having been an assistant coach with Canada’s recent World Championship Under-18 Team.   I am very pleased that he has accepted this position and we look forward to his involvement” , stated Futa.

Boyd, 28, who currently resides in Belleville, has just completed his first year as head coach with the Belleville Bulls of the Ontario Hockey League and was also an assistant coach for the previous three years.

Along with assistant coaches Marty Williamson and Jason Brooks, Boyd will be preparing for the task of evaluating the 84 players who will be attending the upcoming Provincial Under-17 identification camp in August.  Their focus will be to identify and select the twenty-two young men who will best represent Team Ontario at the upcoming International 2005 World Under 17 Hockey Challenge event in Lethbridge, Alberta.  The tournament is scheduled for December 29, 2004 through January 4, 2005.
